transport of cargo from the premises of the exporter/consignor to the premises of the importer/consignee.

double banking
a carrier operation that involves a tractor pulling two trailers.
double bottoms
a flat pallet with a top and bottom deck.
double deck pallet
a mechanized device for transporting simultaneously two standard pallets.
double-pallet jack
also known as “minimum and maximum”, it is a tariff system that provides for two different rates of duty applicable to an imported item, one setting forth the minimum rate, and the other, the maximum rate.
double-schedule tariff system
a document made by a person or firm, directing another (say, a bank) to pay a definite sum of money to a third party (for example, an exporter). Also known as bill of exchange.

the distance between the vessel’s waterline and her keel. The draft marks are welded on each side of the vessel
