What are the switch positions for the Service Building Sump Pumps, and what is the normal position?
- OFF-AUTO-MANUAL
2. The switches are normally in AUTO
How will the Service Building Sump Pumps operate with their control switches in MANUAL?
The pumps will run until shutdown
How will the Service Building Sump Pumps operate with their control switches in AUTO?
- One pump will start on a high level(alternating)
2. Hi-Hi level in the sump the other pump will start, and both will continue to run until the low level is reached
What are the inputs into the Service Building Sumps?
- Service Building floor drains
- D/G Room sumps via oil coalescer
- RL Valve Pit Sump
- Deox Skid
- Secondary Sample drains
- Water Treatment Building
Where does the Service Building Sump System discharge to?
The Service Building Sump System discharges to the Initial Holdup Pond
What is the purpose of the Service Building Sump System?
- Receives waste water from clean sources
2. Send the waste water to the Conventional Waste Water Treatment System(WC)
What is the purpose of the Turbine Building Sump System?
- Receives water from clean or potentially contaminated sources
- Sends waste water to:
A. Conventional Waste Water System(WC)
B. Liquid Radwaste System(WL)
What are the inputs to the Turbine Building Sump System?
- Turbine Building floor drains
- RC Valve Pit
- RC pump structure sump
- RC system drains
- S/G blowdown(alternate)
- Floor drain sumps C and D(monitored by EMF-52)
- Aux Feedwater Sumps
- Chemistry Sample Panel drains
- Transformer Base Drainage sumps
What is the precaution associated with opening a drain valve in one of the Circulating Water(RC) Sump Pits?
There must be a dedicated individual at the RC Pump Suction Isolation Valve Pit to perform a flood watch
What are the inputs to the Turbine Building Sump System(WP)?
- Auxiliary Building Floor Drain Sump D(Unit 1)
2. Auxiliary Building Floor Drain Sump C(Unit 2)
Where does the Turbine Building Sump System discharge to?
The Conventional Waste Water Treatment System(WC) Initial Holdup Pond
How many Turbine Building Sump System Pumps are there?
There are three Turbine Building Sump System Pumps
What affect will placing the Turbine Building Sump Pumps in AUTO have on their operation?
With the control switch in AUTO:
- First pump will start at 10’6”
- Second pump will start at 11’6”
- Third pump will start at 12’6”
What affect will placing the Turbine Building Sump Pumps in ON have on their operation?
With the control switch in ON the pump will run until it is stopped
What affect will 14 feet of water in the Turbine Building Sump have on the TB Sump Pumps?
If level reaches 14 feet(emergency Hi level) any remaining pumps with control switches in OFF will start
What is the affect on the Turbine Building Sump System if EMF-31 produces a Trip 2 signal?
- All Turbine Building Sump Pumps will automatically stop
- Discharge is manually diverted to the Monitor Tank Building
- Override key switch allows manual restart of one Turbine Building Sump Pump
What is the generic procedure for pumping the Turbine Building Sumps following a EMF-31 Trip 2 signal?
- Ensure breakers for two of the three TB Sump Pumps are white tagged off
- Manually align the discharge of the pumps to the Liquid Radwaste System, and isolate the discharge to the Conventional Waste Water Treatment System
- Turn the override key switch on the TB Sump Pump panel
- Pump the sumps with one TB Sump Pump
What are the automatic actions on an emergency Hi level in the Turbine Building Sump?
Starts TB Sump Pumps if the 600V breakers are closed and they cannot be stopped until the level clears
What is the purpose of the Roof Drain System(WD)?
Remove rainwater from all building roofs and direct it to the Yard Drains(YD)
What is the Roof Drain System designed for in terms of rainfall?
5” of rain per hour
What is the purpose of the Yard Drain System(WY)?
To protect all safety related facilities from flooding during the probable maximum precipitation of 30.1 inches in 6 hours
What are the inputs into the Yard Drains System?
- Service Building
- Water Chemistry Building
- Admin Building
- Turbine Building
- Auxiliary Building
- Reactor Building
How many Yard Drain collection areas are there, and where are they?
There are three collection points for the Yard Drains:
- RL Discharge Cove
- RL Intake Cove
- Standby Nuclear Service Water Pond Area
Where do the Yard Drains discharge to?
- Final Holdup Pond(normal)
2. Initial Holdup Pond(alternate)
What is the purpose of the Groundwater Drainage System(WZ)?
Relives the hydrostatic pressure from Containment, Auxiliary, and Turbine Building by draining groundwater collected in sumps
How many total groundwater sumps are there and how are they divided?
There are a total of 5 ground water sumps:
- Auxiliary Building - 3 sumps, each with two pumps
- Turbine Building - 2 sumps, each with two pumps
What is unique about the Auxiliary Building Groundwater Sump Pump Control Switches?
There is no OFF position so sliding links will have to be opened to remove power to the pumps
When are the Groundwater alarms received?
- First alarm is received when groundwater is at the level of the adjacent building floor slab
- Second alarm is received 5 feet above the slab
- Third alarm is received 15 feet about the slab
What is the purpose of the Diesel Generator Room Sump System(WN)?
Removes normal leakage from various equipment in the D/G rooms
