250VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply System(ECS) Flashcards
What is the purpose of the 250VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply System?
The DCS 250VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply System provides reliable power to DCS equipment located in the OAC computer room. This system provides reliable 120VAC power to the Power Distribution Units(PDUs) located in the OAC.
What is the system designator for the 250VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply System?
ECS
What is the purpose of the Battery Chargers?
- The Battery Chargers serve as the normal supply to their respective DCS PDUs.
- There are two battery charges, one for each train.
What is the power supply to the Battery Chargers?
- Unit 1 - SMXU
2. Unit 2 - SMXV
What is the backup power supply to the Power Distribution Units?
- Unit 1 - SMXU through a transformer
2. Unit 2 - SMXV through a transformer
What is the purpose of the Batteries?
The batteries serve as the emergency power supply if power is lost the battery chargers.
What is the capacity of the Batteries?
- Each battery is designed to carry the loads of one unit for 4 hours.
- If only one DCS UPS is available, the single system will carry the load for both units for 2 hours.
What is the purpose of the Static Switch?
The Static Switch will automatically transfer the loads to the alternate source based on predetermined setpoints.
What will cause the Static Switch to transfer from the inverter to the alternate source?
- Inverter Failure
- Overcurrent
- Overload
- Inverter Low Voltage
- Inverter High Voltage
How fast is the Static Switch transfer?
Transfers between the two power sources, in either direction, will take place in less than 1/4 cycle.
What type of switch is the Static Switch?
The Static Switch is an electronic switch comprised of two pairs of Silicon Controlled Rectifiers(SCRs)
What is the purpose of the Inverter?
The Inverter receivers 250VDC power from either the battery or the charger and converts that power into 120VAC.
What is the 250VDC Uninterruptible Power Supply System normal alignment?
Under normal conditions the battery charger supplies regulated DC power to a battery and to an inverter whose conditioned power supplies power to the system loads.
How will the Static Switch respond following an Inverter failure if later the Inverter output is synchronized with the alternate source?
The Static Switch will shift loads back to the inverter from the alternate source.
What are the Power Distribution Center loads?
- DCS Equipment(Distributed Control System)
- KVM Equipment?????
- Miscellaneous Network Switches and Media Converters
