Engineering Safeguard Actuation System(ISE) Flashcards
What is the purpose of the Engineered Safety Features Actuation System?
The purpose of the Engineered Safety Features Actuation System(ESFAS) is to initiate action to protect the core and Reactor Coolant System components and ensure containment integrity in the event of an accident.
What is the system designator for the Engineered Safety Features Actuation System?
ISE
What is the design/purpose of the Input Bay?
Provides a signal to the Logic Cards in the Logic Bay. This is accomplished through the actuation of relay circuits based on input received from Process Protection Cabinet bistables.
What is the purpose of the Logic Bay?
The purpose of the Logic Bay is to provide input to the respective Master relay(s) located in the Output Bay if an ESF required logic is satisfied.
What are the two power supplies(voltage level) in the Logic Bay, and what do they provide power to?
- There are two 15VDC and two 48VDC power supplies in the Logic bay.
- The 15VDC power supply powers the logic cards
- The 48VDC power supply powers:
A. The Reactor Trip Breaker undervoltage coils
B. Master Relay Coils in the Output Bay
What is the purpose of the Output Bay?
The Output Bay energizes the required Slave Relays for actuation of the Engineered Safety Features.
