Skills ac - skill classification Flashcards
What is a motor programme
A series of subroutines organised into the correct sequence to perform a movement
What is the acronym used for the classification of skills
CEMPOD
What does CEMPOD stand for
Continuity, environment, muscular involvement, pacing, organisation, difficulty
What makes up the continuity section of CEMPOD
Discrete - Skill has definite beginning and end, usually brief in nature, has to be restarted from beginning
Serial - Number of discrete skills put together to make a sequence, the order in which the distinct elements are in is important, each movement is both a stimulus and a response
Continuous - no clear beginning or end, activity continues for unspecified time, usually performed for a longer period of time
What makes up the environment section of CEMPOD
Open - changing environment, affected by others, requires adjustments
Closed - Not affected by environment, stable and predictable, self paced
What makes up the muscular section of CEMPOD
Gross - involves large muscle movements/groups, major body movements
Fine - Involves small muscle movements/groups, small bodily movements
What makes up the pacing section of CEMPOD
Externally paced - performance of the action is determined by external sources, more open
Self paced - a performer decides when to perform or start the skill, more closed
What makes up the organisation section of CEMPOD
Low - sub routines can be easily identified and practiced in isolation
High - Cannot be split into sub routines, has to be practiced as whole movement
What makes up the difficulty section of CEMPOD
Simple - little info or stimuli to process, few decisions, time to use feedback, few sub routines
Complex - large amounts of info to process, affected by environment, less time to use feedback, many sub routines
