  1. Turn the infant prone with the head lower than the trunk.
  2. Support the head by firmly holding the jaw.
  3. Deliver up to five forceful back blows between the shoulder blades using the heel of the hand.
  4. If the back blows do not dislodge the obstruction, while supporting the head and neck, turn the infant over, head lower than torso.
  5. Place the two middle fingers on the sternum just below the nipple line.
  6. Administer five thrusts over the sternum, taking care not to press over the liver.
  7. Repeat steps as necessary until help arrives.
