A
- A sight threatening infection of the fat and muscle contained within the bony orbit.

- redness
- swelling
- blurry vision
- double vision.

- Streptoccocci
- Staphylococcus aureus
- non-spore forming anaerobes
- mixed infections (often hard to identify)

- prompt imaging of the orbit to determine the extent of inflammation in the presence of orbital subperiosteal abscess.

- unilateral ophthalmoplegia

- Condjuctival swelling.

- Start IV broadspectrum antibodies
- consider referral for possible orbital surgery.
