1.atleast two of the following pain characteristics

• pressing or tightening non pulsating quality
• mild or moderate intensity
• bilateral location.

2. No aggravation with routine physical activity
3. not associated with nausea/vomiting or photophobia/phonophobia.

• stress
• certain head and neck movements.

What abortive medications can be used to treat tension headaches?

Answer 3

• non steroidal anti inflammatories e.g. ibuprofen, naproxen Ketorolac
• paracetamol
• paracetamol combined with an aspirin /caffeine
• heat, ice, massage.
