Lesson 82. Controling a stage, context Flashcards
What happens in the ‘authorize a work package’ activity?
The project manager hands out work to the teams in work packages.
How may a project manager evaluate a stage?
The project manager reads the checkpoint reports, talks with the team manager, and checks the quality register to see if products pass their quality tests.
What happens in the ‘receive completed work’ activity?
The project manager will get completed products from the team and check that they have passed their quality tests (ask for proof). The project manager will then mark off these products as done in the stage plan.
When can new issues and risks be gathered?
New issues and risks can happen at any time by the project manager.
When may the project manager carry out the ‘escalate issues and risks’ activity?
The project manager will carry out this activity if risks and issues are above the agreed-upon stage tolerances. The project manager will create and issue a risk report.
When may the project manager ‘take corrective action’?
The project manager takes corrective action to solve issues and risks within the stage tolerance so they can decide and do not need to escalate to the project board.
What are some of the daily tasks for a project manager in this process?
The project manager carries out these activities:
* Authorize work to be done for the teams
* Monitor progress data, including signing off completed work packages
* Review the stage status
* Observe, assess, and deal with issues and risks
* Take necessary corrective action to deal with issues
* Escalate risks and issues if they are above tolerance
* Regularly send highlight reports to the PB.
What are the inputs and outputs of this process?
Inputs are the stage plan and the PID. Outputs are the highlight reports and issue/risk/exception reports.
