les 40 Quality practice 2 - the 3 aspects Flashcards
PRINCE2 says there are three parts to quality management, list them.
Quality planning, quality control, and quality assurance.
What does quality planning involve?
Quality planning involves identifying the primary products to deliver and adding the quality data: user’s quality expectations and acceptance criteria. Then, they decide on the ‘quality management approach’ and obtain board approval.
What does quality control involve?
Quality control involves following the guidelines in the ‘quality management approach’ document. Then, quality will be assessed to obtain product acceptance when complete. Quality Control is the procedure to monitor the PDs and their development to determine whether they comply with relevant standards and to identify ways to minimize quality-related issues.
What does quality assurance do?
Quality assurance ensures that products will meet their defined quality specifications. Quality assurance ensures that products will meet their defined quality specifications. Note: Assurance is not about checking the products; that is Quality Control. Quality Assurance is more about checking a quality process in place.
In which documents are quality requirements gathered, and what about the quality management approach document?
Users’ quality expectations are gathered in the ‘project product description,’ and ‘quality requirements are gathered in the ‘product descriptions.’ No quality requirements are added to the quality management approach as this is more of a guideline on how the quality process should work.
What is this definition for: A planned and systematic activity that provides confidence that products will meet their defined quality specifications when tested under quality control?
Quality Assurance
What is the difference between ‘quality assurance’ and ‘project assurance’?
Quality assurance is more concerned with whether the project follows organizational policies, while project assurance confirms whether the project is being conducted correctly. The project board is responsible for project assurance, while quality assurance is typically a function managed independently.
