Lesson 62. Progress practice 3 – Types of control Flashcards
What are driven controls in PRINCE2?
Driven controls are progress controls that can be event-driven or time-driven.
What is a time-driven control?
A management control that occurs at predefined periodic intervals.
Examples include producing highlight reports for the project board or checkpoint reports showing the progress of a work package.
How would you describe a lesson in project management?
- A lesson is information to facilitate the project’s future or other projects. These lessons can be positive or something to avoid doing in the future.
What types of lessons can be identified?
Lessons can be positive or something to avoid doing in the future.
When is a good time to look for lessons?
- An excellent time to look for lessons is at the end of a stage, but there are more places. e.g.:
o When an issue occurs (fresh in your mind)
o When reading a status report, e.g., a Checkpoint report
o At the end of the stage, when performing a stage review
Which PRINCE2 document is used to pass lessons onto other projects?
- The lessons report is used to pass lessons to other projects.
What triggers an event-driven control?
An event-driven control takes place when a specific event occurs.
Give an example of an event that could trigger an event-driven control.
The end of a stage, the completion of project initiation documentation, or the creation of an exception report.
