les 29 organization practice - techniques Flashcards
What happens in the step: Understand the organizational ecosystem?
The project will try to get an understanding of the organizational ecosystem and then see how the project ecosystem will fit in it. The project can then decide how best to interface with the organizational ecosystem.
What are two questions a project manager could ask during the step: Understand the organizational ecosystem?
The project manager can ask the following questions:
* How will people management be done?
* How will governance be done?
* How best to configure the management approach document?
* How best can the project team members be transitioned on and off the project?
What does the project organizational design describe?
The project organizational design describes how to organize work and people. This includes:
* Determining the best structure for the team.
* Choosing the people needed and other resources.
* Implementing working practices.
* Developing the project behaviors and culture.
What does Step 3, ‘Develop the project ecosystem,’ have in common with the previous step?
Development is about implementing the design from step 2. The project ecosystem will need ongoing development (adapt and evolve), which is part of continuous improvement.
What activities may be included in Step 3, ‘Develop the project ecosystem’?
The development of the project ecosystem activities may include:
* Onboarding people to the project.
* Skills and capability assessments or audits of the project team.
* Training and team building (project culture).
What should the project manager do in Step 4, ‘Manage changes to the project ecosystem’?
The project manager should have feedback loops to determine whether there are any capacity gaps or relational issues to address. The capabilities required on a project will change over the project lifecycle. Therefore, the project manager can check this at the end of each stage.
What is step 5 about (Transition of the project into the organizational ecosystem) and what things should the project board consider?
This step is about closing the project; there are three key aspects the project board needs to consider here:
* Products: ensuring all products have been accepted into the business.
* People: ensuring any remaining project members are transitioned back into the business.
* Learning: ensuring that lessons are gathered and shared with the broader business.
