  • fall risk precautions
  • give with food
  • increase fluid intake
  • bowell regimen as needed
  • monitor for urine retention
  • do not give with other cns depressants (increase sedation)
  • if sedative effects of 1st gen too much- suggest 2nd gen antihistamines
