  • obtain specimens before starting anitfungal therapy
  • amphotericin B- highly toxic use only on deadly fungal infections; monitor kidney function
  • assess iv site for pain/redness/swelling
  • monitor BUN and creatinine, BMP (especially potassium)
  • monitor CBC- hematocrit
