- iv infusion reactions (fever, chills, rigors, and headache 1-3 hrs after infusion)

- electrolyte imbalance
- bone marrow suppression

- caution with anemia, electrolyte imbalance, and bone marrow suppression

A
- aminoglycosides (additive nepronotoxic effect)
- azaleas increase levels of digoxin, warfarin, and sulfonylurea antidiabetic meds

A
- obtain specimens before starting anitfungal therapy
- amphotericin B- highly toxic use only on deadly fungal infections; monitor kidney function
- assess iv site for pain/redness/swelling
- monitor BUN and creatinine, BMP (especially potassium)
- monitor CBC- hematocrit
