- blurred vision, dry mouth, urinary retention, constipation, tachycardia)

A
- inflammatory bowel disorders (risk of megacolon)
- severe electrolyte imbalances
- COPD paregoric

- alcohol
- other cns depressants

A
- admin diphenoxylate slowly (5mg/tab first to judge client effect, max 8 tabs/day)
- loperamide is controlled substance has morphine like effects
- monitor for dehydration/ electrolyte imbalance

A
- when having diarrhea drink sm amts of clear liquids/ electrolyte drink to stay hydrated
- avoid drinking water (no electrolytes in it)
- avoid caffeine
- if medication is ineffective let your provider know
