antiplatlets MOA
A
- prevent platelets from clumping together by inhibiting enzymes and factors that normally lead to arterial clotting
- also inhibit platlet aggregation at the onset of the clotting process, thus altering bleeding times

A
prevent mis, stroke or tia, manage acute coronary syndromes and intermittent claudication

aspirin

A
- go effects (n/v) dyspepsia
- hemorrhagic stroke
- prolonged bleeding time, gastric bleed, thrombocytopenia
- tinnitus, hearing loss (toxic levels)

A
- bleeding disroders
- thrombocytopenia
- caution with peptic ulcer disease, serve kidney or liver disorders
- aspirin- do not give to children that have viral infection (risk of reyes syndrome)

A
- other meds that increase bleeding
- herbal supplement that increase bleeding
- other saids
- urine acidifiers, corticosteroids, caffeine (can increase aspirin levels)

A
- monitor for s/s of bleeding
- monitor platelet levels
- make sure aspirin is taken with food
- don’t take aspirin with other nsaids- can cause reduced blood thinning effect
- monitor for s/s toxicity

- take with food
- monitor for s/s of bleeding and notify your provider
- don’t take with nsaids for herbal supplements that increase bleeding
- notify your doctors if you develop ringing in your ears or hearing loss
