- caution with liver and kidney disease

- milk products, calcium, iron supplements, laxatives with magnesium, and antacid (reduce absorption of tetracycline)
- oral
- minocycline and doxycline increase risk of digoxin toxicity

- obtain specimens before starting antibiotic therapy
- STD education (if that is what the client is getting it for)
- teach about back-up contraception
- must be taking on an empt stomach
- do not give hs- risk of esophageal ulceration
- complete entire therapy
- monitor dioxin levels for those taking dig and tetracyclines
- do not give with mid or antacids
