Q

pathogenesis of chronic inflammation causing lymphocytosis

A
  • macrophages and lymphocytes release cytokines -> stimulate production of lymphocytes in lymph nodes -> lymphoid hyperplasia -> increase production and release of lymphocytes to blood

Q

pathogenesis of physiologic (shift) causing lymphocytosis

A
  • increase catecholamine -> down regulation of adhesion proteins in vessels -> shift from marginating to circulating pool
  • increase blood flow rate -> shift from marginating to circulating pool

Q

pathogenesis of lymphoproliferative disorders causing lymphocytosis

A
  • neoplastic transformation of lymphocyte -> clonal proliferation of neoplastic lymphocytes -> increase production and release of neoplastic lymphocytes
