1
Q
olfactory
A
- sensory nerve
- each nerve is composed of 20 small rootlets which pass into the roof of the nasal cavity
2
Q
optic
A
- sensory nerve
- used for vision
- moves eyeball (kinda)
- passes thalamus and part of the midbrain
3
Q
oculomotor
A
- motor nerve
- moves eyeball
- contains autonomic nerve fibers (controls shape of pupil and lens)
4
Q
trochlear
A
- motor nerve
- controls one muscle that moves the eyeball

A
- motor and sensory**
- sensory for most of head region including skin and face, teeth
- muscles for muscles of mastication
6
Q
abducens
A
-motor nerve: controls one extrinsic muscle of the eyeball**

Q
facial
A
- motor and sensory nerve(for earlobe)
- controls muscles of facial expression**
- contains autonomic fibers which control secretion of salivary glands and lacrimal gland
- carries taste from the anterior 2/3’s of tongue
8
Q
vestibulocochlear
A
- sensory nerve
- vestibular involved in sense of balance
- cochlear is involved in sense of hearing

Q
vagus
A
- motor and sensory(larynx and ear)
- control laryngeal muscles
- carries autonomic fibers to smooth muscle in thorax, abdomen, and to heart

Q
accessory
A
- motor nerve
- controls trapezius and SCM muscles
12
Q

A
- motor nerve
- controls muscles of tongue
