A320 Lounge Electrics 2 Flashcards
How do you turn AC power into DC power?
Transformer Rectifiers
How many TRs are there?
3.
TR1, TR2 and ESS TR
What is the maximum output of the TR?
200A
What does the TR normally put out in volts?
28V DC power
What is the DC BAT BUS normally powered by?
DC1
What is the HOT BAT BUS?
Some things are always connected to the battery, and always energised, such as the clock
What is a BCL?
Battery Charge Limiter
What does a BCL do?
Controls battery charging and discharging via a battery contactor. It closes the battery contactors when the voltage falls below 26.5V, to allow the batteries to charge.
It also connects batteries to DC BAT BUS when starting the APU, as the drain on the electrical system is high
What is the DC ESS BUS normally connected to?
The DC BAT BUS
What is connected by the battery contactors?
Battery to DC BAT BUS
When ground power is connected, what is the maint bus connected to?
AC BUS 2 and DC BUS 2, using TR2
If AC BUS 1 fails, how does DC1 get powered?
The DC TIE closes, and DC2 sends power through the DC BAT BUS to DC1.
This creates a big load on DC2, so the DC ESS BUS then gets powered by the AC ESS FEED closing, and power comes through the AC ESS BUS-ESS TR route
If there is a failure of DC BUS 1, how is the DC ESS BUS and DC BAT BUS powered?
The DC TIE closes, and DC2 powers DC BAT BUS.
The ESS TR then provides power from the AC ESS BUS into the DC ESS BUS
What happens when AC BUS 1 and AC BUS 2 fail?
There is no way to power DC1 or DC2 either.
RAT deployed
EMER ELEC CONFIG
How long does it take for the RAT to deploy?
5 seconds to extend and a further 3 seconds to start generating blue hydraulic power
