General Knowledge 5 Flashcards
What are the main issues with BLU HYD LO LVL
Not much. Affects only one spoiler per wing (spoiler 3)
Note that if the aircraft ends up in EMER ELEC CONFIG there will be no EMER GEN.
Batteries would become the only source of power, lasting 30 minutes. Attempting to start the APU would reduce this time
When does BLU HYD LO LVL trigger?
Less than 2.4l reservoir contents
When does RSVR OVHT (Y) trigger?
What temperature will the fault light remain illuminated on PTU and YELLOW ENG 2 PUMP pbs until?
Tempterature greater than 93 degrees
Fault lights remain until less than 88 degrees
Can yellow hydraulic pressure be recovered for the approach after an overheat?
If the pbs extinguish, yellow pressure can be recovered.
If restored, there will no longer be LDG DIST PROC to apply and status will be removed
Where can you find the overweight landing checklist?
QRH - ABN - MISC
What are the immediate actions following an engine failure in the cruise?
Both levers MCT
Disconnect ATHR and select speed to avoid thrust reduction
Set a heading and pull
Check enroute MSA / PROG page and set an altitude
When HYD B and Y fail, why use gravity gear extension?
To protect the green system
In alternate law, what is the recommended maximum level?
4000ft below REC MAX ALT
In direct law, for a go around with an aft C of G, would the aircraft pitch up or down?
Up
What is the correct order to deal with the following?
OEB
QRH
ECAM
Memory Items
Memory Items or OEB immediate actions
OEB
ECAM
QRH
What is the definition of LAND ASAP red?
Land as soon as possible at the nearest airport at which a safe landing can be made
What is the definition of LAND ASAP amber?
Consider landing at the nearest suitable airport
Which controls and buttons require cross checking?
Eng Master Lever
IR mode selector
All guarded controls
Cockpit C/Bs
What is the difference between red guarded controls and black guarded controls?
Black guarded controls are reversible
When requested by a procedure, what is the correct method when pressing buttons on the overhead panel?
Name of system
Name of control
Action
Then PM should check the SD page in order to verify that the selected action was performed
Whose responsibility is it to perform actions commanded by a checklist?
PM
What is the guidance relating to consulting the FCOM during a failure?
Flight crew should not prolong a flight to refer to the FCOM
Why is it important to monitor advisory parameters?
The sensors used to trigger the advisory may be different to those used by the FWS to generate an ECAM alert.
It also enables flight crew to monitor drifting parameters
What is the correct task sharing method for an advisory?
First crew member to notice states “ADVISORY on XYZ system”
Then, PF requests PM to monitor the drifting parameter
If time permits, PM may refer to QRH in order to check triggering conditions and find associated recommended actions
What are the 4 golden rules?
Fly Navigate Communicate
Use appropriate level of automation at all times
Understand the FMA at all times
Take action if things do not go as expected
