9
Q

Do you get double speedbrake when you take out autopilot on an A320?

A

No. With AP in, speedbrake deflection is similar to A319 (A319 is 17.5, 25, 25 degrees), whereas A320 is 12.5, 25, 25.

When disconnecting AP, it becomes 20, 40, 40

16
Q

What flaps/slats do you have in CONF FULL?

A

Slats full
Flaps full

17
Q

Why is Flap 3 landing recommended in windy conditions?

A

Because CONF FULL is double (A319 and A320 NEO) or nearly double (A320 CEO) the angle of CONF 3, so there is a significantly higher level of drag in CONF FULL, and also in CONF3 you have to fly faster for the lift, so this gives a greater energy to react

18
Q

What is a flap PCU?

A

Power control unit

19
Q

What are the differences between SFCC1 and SFCC2?

A

They are identical

20
Q

What is the makeup of an SFCC?

A

There is a Flap channel and a Slat channel, and each of these channels has two separate lanes, lane 1 and lane 2.

Slat lane 1
Slat lane 2
Flap lane 1
Flap lane 2

The lanes look at where the lever is, and where the flap/slat actually is

21
Q

Do you get flaps/slats slow with an SFCC failure?

A

Yes, because only one of the two motors is powering the differential gearbox which moves the control surfaces

22
Q

Why do we get flaps/slats slow with hydraulic problems?

A

Because only one of the two motors is powering the differential gearbox which moves the control surfaces

23
Q

What does F/CTL FLAPS SYS 1 FAULT mean?

A

The flap channel only of SFCC 1 has a fault, so flaps still available via SFCC 2

24
Q

What do wing tip brakes do?

A

When flaps move in a way that isn’t appropriate (eg. asymmetrically, uncommanded etc), wing tip brakes lock the flaps or slats in position

25
Q

What does FLAPS LOCKED mean?

A

Wing tip brakes have activated and locked them in the current position
