A
Its a anti-fibromolytic which reduces the break down of the blood clotting

How is the drug presented/ administered
A
- Oral tablet - 650mg x 2 3 times a day.
- 500mg in 5ml (100mg/1ml)

A
- Pt’s with time critical injuries where internal/external haemorrhage is suspected

- 6/5yro 300mg

What are the drugs actions Pharmacodynamics
A
Inhibits plasminogen activation and plasmic activity, preventing a clot breaking down rather than a new clot forming. It blocks the lysine binding sites on plasminogen which inhibits fibrinolysis.

- IV absorption,
- Vascular distribution,
- Metabolised hepatically,
- excreted renally

What are the side effects of this drug
A
Rapid injection may cause hypotension.
