A
- Its a antiemetic acting on the CNS to reduce vertigo aswell as Gastrointestinal tract to reduce nausea and vomitting

Why would you prescribe
A
- Nausea and vomitting in adults over 20yr
- Prevention and treatment of nausea, vomitting after morphine administration

- 10mg in 2ml

Pharmacodynamics
A
- Dopamine (5HT3) antagonist which acts on the GI tract
- Antagonises Dopamine receptors found in the chemorecptor trigger zone of the brain, which prevents nausea messages being sent to the vomitting centre
- Increase release of Acetylocholine in the GI tract, which increase tone in the lower part of the oesophagus
