Gliclazide Flashcards
1
Q
Introduction
A
- Its a Sulfonylurea (Increase the Beta cells release of Insulin)
2
Q
Pharmacodynamics
A
- Synthetic compund that stimulates Beta cells in the pancreas to release more Insulin
- Binds to the Beta Cell Sulfonylurea receptor which blocks ATP sensative potassium channels, resulting in a closer of the channels and leads to a decrease of potassium efflux, which leads to a depolerisation of the Beta cells
