- Its a sympathomimetic that stimulates bothe Alpha and Beta adrengic receptors
- Increases peripheral resistance and improves perfusion pressures
- is a chemical that narrows blood vessels and opens airways in the lungs

A
- Prefilled syringe containing 1mg adrenaline in 1ml (1:1000)
- Pre filled shrine containing 1mg adrenaline in 10ml (1:10000)

Why would you prescribe the drug
A
- Cardiac Arrest
- Anaphalaxis
- Life threatening asthma

Typical dose
A
Cardiac arrest Shockable Rhythm
- After 3rd Shock, then alternate shocks 5th, 7th etc
- 1:10000
Cardiac Arrest Non Shockable Rhythm
- Immediately then every 3-5 minutes after
- 1:10000
Anaphalaxis and Life Threatening Asthma
- 500mcg every 5minutes
- 1:1000

Side effects
A
- Severe Hypertension in pts on Beta blockers
- fast or pounding heartbeats;
- pale skin, sweating;
- nausea and vomiting;
- dizziness;
- weakness or tremors;
- throbbing headache; or
- feeling nervous, anxious, or fearful.

Pharmacokinetics of the drug
A
- Rapid acting but short lived
- Distributed to the heart, spleen, adrenergic nerves
- Metabolised in the liver
- Excreted in urine
