A
- Anticholinergic antagonist, alkoloid that increases heart rate
- Can reverse the effects of vagel overdrive
- Increase the firing of the SA Node
- Enhances AV conduction

A
- Pre filled syringe 1mg/1ml
- Ampoule 600mcg /1ml

Why would you give the drug
A
- Symptomatic bradycardia in the presence of these signs
- Absolute bradycardia <40 bpm
- Systolic BP below expected for age
- Paroxysmal ventricular arrthymias requing suppression
- Inadequate perfusion causing confusion

- IV 12yr< 600mcg/ 1ml every 3-5mins, Max 3mg

- Cholinergic receptor antagonist, inhibiting stimulation from the parasympathetic nerve by blocking effects of Acetylcholine

- Widely distributed
- Metabolised in the liver

Side effects
A
- Dry mouth, visual blurring
- Confusion
- Tachycardia
- Retenion of urine
