Neurophysiology of Symptoms - FRONTAL/TEMPORAL LOBES Flashcards
what is the temporal lobe responsible for?
planning, problem solving, intellectual insight, judgement and expression of emotion (responsible for modulation an fine tuning of emotion)
- it integrates/interpretes somatic or bodily, visual and auditory (critical for appropriate interpretation)
how is one able to have an appropriate social response?
due to an accurate interpretation of emotions an the ability to respond with the socially appropriate level of emotionality and language

regulates our emotional behaviour
where are parts of the limbic system housed?
temporal lobe
PET an MRI scans on the temporal/frontal lobes have showed what?
decreased functioning
dysregulation in serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine are the culprits in which regions of the brain?
temporal and frontal lobes
why is it unknown if the decrease in function in these lobes are an effect of depression?
bc the activity returns to normal with the resolution of the symptoms
