Q

what is the viewpoint of animal welfare vs animal rights on sports that include animals

A

Some of the sports that are considered to be entertainment in one culture may be considered cruel in another; where cruelty is an issue, the welfare of the animals must be taken into account. Regardless of whether or not the sport can be shown to cause pain or suffering to the animal, the animal rights movement is against it whereas animal welfare considerations are met as long as the animals used in the sport do not suffer.
