Morrill Land Grant Act

National Banking Act
a United States federal law that established a system of national charters for banks. It encouraged development of a national currency based on bank holdings of U.S. Treasury securities
New York Draft Riots
a series of violent disturbances in New York City that were the culmination of discontent with new laws passed by Congress to draft men to fight in the ongoing American Civil War.
Nullification Crisis
confrontation between the state of South Carolina and the federal government in 1832–33 over the former’s attempt to declare null and void within the state the federal Tariffs of 1828 and 1832.
Panic of 1819
financial panic swept across the country. The growth in trade that followed the War of 1812 came to an abrupt halt. Unemployment mounted, banks failed, mortgages were foreclosed, and agricultural prices fell by half. Investment in western lands collapsed.
Panic of 1837
financial crisis in the United States that touched off a major depression, which lasted until the mid-1840s. Profits, prices, and wages went down, westward expansion was stalled, unemployment went up, and pessimism abounded.

a financial panic in the United States caused by the declining international economy and over-expansion of the domestic economy
Peggy Eaton Affair
a political scandal involving members of President Andrew Jackson’s Cabinet and their wives, from 1829 to 1831.
Philadelphia Convention
a radical decision to throw out the Articles of Confederation and start fresh developing a framework for strengthening the power of the United States’ federal government.
Pickneys Treaty
It resolved territorial disputes between the two countries and granted American ships the right to free navigation of the Mississippi River as well as duty-free transport through the port of New Orleans, then under Spanish control.
