Lesson 3B (Part 3) Flashcards
Which lobe out of the entire liver is the smallest?
Caudate lobe
Why is the caudate lobe different from all the other lobes?
It as one arterial and venous blood flow independent of the other lobes
What is the caudate lobe covered by?
Peritoneum of the lesser sac
What is the caudate lobe between?
IVC and the portal vein
- squeezes through
What is the anterior boundary of the quadrate lobe?
Anterior margin of the liver
What is the posterior boundary of the liver?
Porta heaptis
What is the right boundary of the quadrate lobe?
Gall bladder fossa
What is the left boundary of the quadrate lobe?
Fossa for ligamentum teres
Where is the quadrate lobe in between?
Fissure and the gallbladder
What are liver ligaments made out of?
Double folds of peritoneum that reflects off of the liver and hold it in place within the abdominal cavity
What does the falciform ligament connect?
The liver anteriorly to the diaphragm
What does the ligamentum tere connect?
The umbilicus
What do the right and left anterior and posterior ligament connect?
Liver to the diaphragm
What do the right and left triangular ligaments connect?
Liver to the diaphragm
What does the falciform ligament do?
Divides the right and left lobes anatomically
What does the falciform ligament turn into as it goes more superior?
Right and left coronary ligament
What is the ligamentum teres?
The obliterated umbilical vein
- prenatal
What is another name for the ligamentum teres?
Round ligament
Where does the ligamentum teres run?
In the free edge of the falciform ligament
Where does the round ligament lie?
In the left fissure between the medial and lateral left lobe
- surgically
Where is the coronary ligaments located?
Anteriorsuperior of the liver surface
- think coronary = heart
What does the coronary ligament surround?
The bare area
What does the coronary ligaments become after it converges posterolaterally?
Left and right triangular ligaments
Where does the ligamentum venosum run?
From the porta hepatis of the liver and then reaches to the IVC
What does the ligamentum venosum have a remnant of?
The ductus venosus of the fetal circulation
- often obliterated in adults, but the fissure remains
Where does the ligamentum venosum lie?
Within the fissure on the inferior surface of the liver
What does the ligamentum venosum separate?
The caudate lobe from the left lobe
Is the caudate lobe intraperitoneal or retroperitoneal?
Intraperitoneal
Is the IVC intraperitoneal or retroperitoneal?
Retroperitoneal
What is the bare area surrounded by?
The anterior and posterior coronary ligaments
