fitness tests Flashcards

1
Q

what is the functional threshold test

A

refers to the highest intensity that performer can work at for one hour, there performer should try to keep to this intents over a predetermined period of time, allowing personalised training zones to be created

Q

what is the lactate threshold fitness test

A

refers to the occurrence of lactate accumulation in the blood and determines when anaerobic exercise is taking place, the performer increase the intensity of exercise at different stage until the are exhausted, blood samples are taken at each stage and then analysed for lactate concentration

Q

what is the gas analysis fitness test

A

athlete measuring the composition of the air they are breathing out by using a mouthpiece to expire their air into a specialised bag, then will be analysed to determines measures such as VO2 max

Q

what is the multi stage fitness test

A

two seta of cones spaces 20 apart, beep is emmitted and the performer must run to the other et of cones before the beep happens again, repeated and the beeps being closer together, performer continues until exhaustion, level reached by performer is recored

Q

what happens in the step test

A

performer performs either 24 or 22 steps per minute, while stepping onto a box, continues for three mintutes, once finished heart rate is recored and compared to a fitness index.

15
Q

what is the Wingate test

A

takes place on a cycle ergometer, the performer cycles as quickly as they can for 30 seconds, as a redetermined load is dropped onto the wheels making out harder to pedal formula can reused to determine peak power produced

16
Q

what component does the Wingate test test

A

anaerobic capacity

17
Q

what is maximum accumulated oxygen deficit

A

includes 10 x 4 min sub maximal bouts of exercise

18
Q

what component does the maximum accumulated oxygen deficit test

A

anaerobic capacity

19
Q

what is the repeated anaerobic sprint test

A

two sets of cones are placed 35m metres apart, performer then sprints from one set to another, once one sprint is completed the performer rests for 10secs before sprint grace Ito the original set of cones, this is repeated three times, the time taken for each sprint is recorded, before being entered in a calculation

20
Q

what component of fitness does repeated anaerobic sprint test, test

A

anaerobic capacity

21
Q

what happens in the Cunningham and Faulkner test

A

performer runs of a treadmill at a pace of 8 mph at an incline of 20% until they are exhausted and can longer continue, time taken to reach exhaustion is recored

22
Q

what component does Cunningham and Faulkner test

A

anaerobic capacity

23
Q

what is the jump test

A

the performer stand next to a wall, before completing a vertical jump and touching the wall at as high a point as they can, highest point then measured

24
Q

what component does the jump test, test

A

anaerobic power

25
Q

what is the margarita- kalamen test

A

performer is weighted , a set of 12 steps is place 6 m in front of the performer, then performer then sprints to the steps and aims to reach the top of the seps as quickly as possible by only stepping on the their and sixth and ninth step, the time taken form the third to ninth step is recorded

26
Q

what component does the margarita kalamen test test

A

anaerobic capacity

27
Q

what is the strength test

A

the one rep max test, lift as heavy a weight as they can to complete one repetition, the weight lifted is recored

28
Q

what component does the strength test, test

A

anaerobic capacity

29
Q

what is agility test

A

involves the performer completing a 10m x 5m course by following a path around and in between a set of cones, performer Strats by lying on their chest, the time taken is then recored

30
Q

what component does the agility test, test

A

anaerobic capacity

31
Q

what is the 30m sprint test

A

30m set out by two cones with performer sprinting from one to another, the time taken to cover the distance is recorded

32
Q

what component does 30m sprint test, test

A

maximum speed
