Unit 2 Test Flashcards
Reinforcer
Any stimulus change that follows a response and increases the probability of similar responses under similar circumstances.
5 dimensions of responding
Rate Duration Latency Intensity Topography
Function altering
The reinforcer makes the Sd elicit a similar response
Automatic reinforcement
Reinforcement that is not socially mediated.
Time-out procedure
Time when the person is either removed from a reinforcing environment or loses access to reinforcers.
Time-out conceptual
The more reinforcing time-in is the more effective time-out will be
Time-out functional
Time-out involves a reduces the frequency of similar responses under similar conditions.
Positive reinforcement
Response is followed by the presentation of a stimulus, contingent on behavior, and increases the future frequency of similar responses under similar conditions.
Negative reinforcement
Response is followed by the removal of a stimulus, contingent on behavior, and increases the future frequency of similar responses under similar conditions.
Positive punishment
Response is followed by the presentation of a stimulus, contingent on behavior, and decreases the future frequency of similar responses under similar conditions.
Negative punisher
Response is followed by the removal of a stimulus, contingent on behavior, and decreases the future frequency of similar responses under similar conditions.
Circular explanation
The evidence for the explanation is the same as the behavior to be explained.
Environment
All stimulus change that affects behavior at a given time.
Dererminism
All behavior is lawful and orderly
Stimulus
Energy change that effects behavior
5 schedules of R
CRF- reinforcement is given with every occurrence of behavior
IRF- some but not all behaviors are reinforced
(FR, VR, FI, VI)
FT, VT- non-contingent reinforcement. Response independent
Response cost
Withdrawing R when behavior occurs
Aversive stimulus
MO, negative reinforcer, positive punisher
Automaticity of behavior
Behavior is being reinforced w/out the knowledge of the person being reinforced.
DRL
Reinforcement is provided when behavior does not exceed a predetermined criterion. IRT need to be high
DRH
Reinforcement is provided when a behavior occurs more than a predetermined criterion. “Asking for help” IRT needs to be low
Punishment
Not about punishing people but about decreasing behavior.
Planned ignoring
occurs when social reinforcers are removed when inappropriate behaviors occur.
Contingent observation
the person can observation ongoing activities but access to reinforcement is lost.
ABA
The science in which tactics derived from principles of behavior are applied systematically to improve socially significant behavior and experimentation is used to identify the variables responsible for bx change.
