Psy 421 6.2 Flashcards
Disruption of the pattern of responding due to stretching the ratio of reinforcement to abruptly or too far
Ratio strain
The procedure of gradually increasing the number of responses required for reinforcement
Stretching the ratio
How quickly a behavior will decrease is based on what type of schedule of reinforcement it is on
How extinction is related to schedules of reinforcement
The tendency for behavior that has been maintained on an intermittent schedule to be more resistant to extinction then a behavior on a CR
Partial reinforcement effect
- Discrimination hypothesis- hard to discriminate IR and extinction
- Frustration hypothesis- non reinforcement is frustrating
- Sequential hypothesis- difference in the sequence of cues
- Response unit hypothesis- think differently about behavior IR
The four hypotheses for PRE
Behavior is under influence of two or more simple schedules, each associated with a particular stimulus.
Multiple schedule
No stimuli associated with the change in reinforcement contingencies in this schedule
Mixed schedule
Reinforcement is given only on completion of the last in a series of schedules
Chain schedule
There is no distinctive event that signals the end of one schedule and the beginning of the next
Tandem schedule
Reinforcement is dependent on the Shavuot of two or more individuals
Cooperative schedules
Two or more schedules are available at once
Concurrent schedules
The principle that, given the opportunity to respond on two or more reinforcement schedules, the rate of responding on each schedule will match the reinforcement available on each schedule
Matching law
B1 r1
__ = ___
B2 r2
