What was the adam kendon study?
there were pairs of participants who mwt for the first time and they were being observed through a two way mirror- he found att hat eye contact signals whos turn it is in conversation looking away signals “my turn to speak” looking directly at signals your turn to speak
What was the study by claire conway?
judging whether people are attractive by female and male students being showed picture looking at them looking away the ones that made eye contact were more attractive even with duguist faces, eye contact is an evolutionary behaviour
What did reginold adams and robert kleck discover?
gave participants pictures of emotions fear, sadness, joy,anger with the people looking at them and looking away to see how intense emotion were- fear and sadness were most intense and joy and anger ere the most intense when making eye contact, eye contact can be used to express how intense an emotion
what study was hugh mcginley
particicpants were shown a women with an open and closed posture and they were asked before and after on their opinions on things like whether we should be able to use nuclear weapons and give waiters tips. Many of the participants changed there mind after seeing the women with the open posture as it made them agree with what she was saying, posture can have an effecgt on what is being communicated
Rob tanner and tanya chatrand?
they investigated whether postural echo would change peoples views on there product vigor a new drink. with one group they used postural echo and copied there gestures - participants that had experienced postural echo were more likely to say that they liked the drink and thought it would be successful in the future, postural echo introduces positive feelings
Who did the jeffrey fisher study?
they had a group of partcipants and they were handed books by the librarian on half of the participants were touched by the libarian and the other half were not and one of the half of the study said they had more of a positive interpretation of the librarian, touch can affect our atitudes towards people
