Von Frische was an ethologist who studied animals and observed the bee’s in there natural habitat doing normal activities- He changed the bee’s enviroment to study there behaviour. Von Frisch put some food 10-20 metres away from the hive and put one further away at 300 metres. He had 6000 observations of the bee’s within 20 years

The worker honey bee’s tell other bee’s where sources of pollen are and where they have found them and that they do this by performing a dance.

To tell the bee’s that there is food less than 100 metres away, bee moves around in a circle, sometimes changing direction and other bee’s that see the dance will know there is a food source nearby

Bee’s move in a figure of 8 the bee waggles it’s abdomen. The straight line in the middle in this part of the dance is to indicate the watching bee’s where the pollen is. Slower the bee performs the dance the further away the food is

Showed that the bee’s had a sophisticated way of communicating and the speed and accuracy the bee’s found food at suggests that the bee dance gives them valuable information
