Active transport Flashcards
What is active transport?
Substances need to absorbed from a lower concentration to a higher concentration against the concentration gradient
Why does the root hair cells use active transport?
Concentration of minerals is higher in the root hair cells than in the soil around them
What does active transport allow the plant to do?
active transport allows the plants to absorb minerals from a very dilute solution from the soil it moves the minerals against the concentration gradient
Why do we need active transport to stop us starving?
When there is higher concentration the gut they diffuse into the body, sometimes it is the other way round, they use active transport to get to a high concentration in the gut and lower in the blood
