Osmosis Flashcards
1
Q
What is osmosis?
A
Movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from the region of a higher concentration to a lower concentration
2
Q
What can pass through the membrane?
A
only small particles and not the bigger particles
3
Q
What do the molecules do in osmosis?
A
pass both ways through the membrane- waterβs move randomly during osmosis- when there are more molecules on one side thereβs a steady net flow
4
Q
What does this mean for the stronger solution?
A
It is more dilute
