- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandin, used to treat mild to moderate pain and fever
- Can block the inflammatory response
- Have antipyretic (fever-blocking) and analgesic (pain-blocking) effects

- History: allergy, contraindications or cautions, chickenpox or influenza in children
- Physical: Skin, VS, orientation and reflexes, perfusion, respirations and sounds, liver evaluation, bowel sounds, monitor lab tests

- Acute pain r/t CNS and GI effects
- Ineffective breathing pattern if toxic effects occur
- Disturbed sensory perception if toxic effects occur

- Administer with food if GI upset is severe

- Monitor for severe reactions
- Ensure the pt is well hydrated
