Reasons for euthanasia?
- diginity to choose how they die
- stop unbearable suffering -pallativer care isn’t enough
- help family/friends
- cut governemtn spending on life-support machines
- naturally they would be dead
Reasons agaisnt euthanasia?
slippery slop- absoltuist ethical code is the onyl safe approach
-comaprabel to Nazi regime- this hasn’t happened in Holland
-duty to kill by doctors
duty to die- pressure from family/friends- burden
Sancity of life?
god-given gift- go agaisnt god’s will is the same as condmenign the command of God (Natural Law)
Issue of eprsonhood- but then are mentally-disabeld people still count as people?
Peter Singer argues with euthanasia its more about the?
quality of lif - not just from freedom but to retian self-respect
-this might pain might outweigh pleasure of life

passive- turning off a ventilator or refusing food/treatment

Would Tony Nicholson be considered a person?
unable to form the simplest tasks, even though he’s able to move and the suffering he’s in=he doesn’t count as a person (should be allowed to die)
