Chem (Analytical Techniques) Flashcards
Fingerprint region is hard to..?
detect
If the sprectra for a sample is different from the pure compound i.e. there rae extra peaks it must contain..?
impurities
Fir a C-H bond it is about..?
For saturated it is..3000?
For unsaturated it is … 3000
For aldehyde it is abut..?
3000
under
over
2750
For 0-H bonds it is centred around…. for carboxylic acids?
For alcohols it si centered around …?
stretches from 2500-3000
narrower peak from 3200-3500
For C=0 bonds it is always about..?
1700
EITHER TOUCHING THE BOOTM OR VERY CLOSE TO IT
For 0-H bonds it is centred around…. for carboxylic acids?
For alcohols it si centered around …?
stretches from 2500-3000 (fair bit of distance till the bottom
narrower peak from 3200-3500 ( quite close to the bottom)
Fir a C-H bond it is about..?
For saturated it is..3000?
For unsaturated, like alkanes there is one under … 3000 but also another one/stretches to just.. 3000
For aldehyde it is abut..?
3000
under (touching the bottom)
over (touching the bottom) and OVER 3000
2750
For C=C bonds, as well as below 3000 long peak and short above 3000 peak there is also ..?
Another short peak at about 1600
The global warming link- infrad spectra of carbon dioxide,
methane and
water vapour
H20- the 0-H bond is about 3800
CH4- the C-H bond is about 3000
C02- the C=0 bond is about 2700
What causes the temeprature increase in global warming?
When bonds absorb infred radiation, particles vibrate more. Raidation does not escape into atmosphere
As the concentration fo greenhouse gasses increases, the amount of infrred abosbed increases, kinetic energy increases
