-limited therapeutic effect
Therapeutic
-DEC symptoms of hormone-secreting tumors: *acromegaly, carcinoid syndrome, glucagonoma
-used to locate neuroendocrine tumors
MOA
-inhibit release of GH, TSH, glucagon, insulin and gastrin
ADE
-GI effects, N/V
-cardiac effects
-Tx>6 months-bilary sludge and gallstones
-Tx>12 months-Vit B12 deficiency

Cabergoline, Bromocriptine

-dopamine agonist: ergot derivatives
-cabergoline is better, less ADE
Therapeutic
-*hyperprolactinemia (1st line therapy!)
-Acromegaly
-can use for parkinsons, but not widely used
MOA
-D2 agonist
ADE
-nausea, HA
-orthostatic hypotension, fatigue
Contraindications
-small adenomas during pregnancy
-if large, then use
