  • ineffective for pneumonia
  • IV only

  • inhibits protein metabolism by binding to bacterial ribosome and prevents formation of functional 70s complex
  • IV and oral
  • ADV Serotonin syndrome (drug induced hyperthermia) and diarrhea (C. diff colitis)
  • don’t take w/ antidepressants
