GOUT Flashcards
0
Q
Allopurionol
Oxypurinol
A
- Xanthine oxidase inhibitor
- MOA: DEC purine metabolism=DEC uric acid
- cheaper than Febuxostat
- ADV prolong 1/2 life of immunosuppressants (Azathioprine & 6-Mercaptopurine)=bone marrow depression
- ADV acute gout flare
- used for patients with low/intermediate risk of TSL
1
Q
Colchicine
A
- anti-inflammatory for gout
- MOA: mitotic spindle poison=inhibits cell division via binding to B-tubulin, interfering with microtubules=interferes with assembly of inflammation complex
- if ALLERGY=intracellular injection with Depo-medrol (corticosteroid suspension)
2
Q
Febuxostat
A
- Xanthine oxidase inhibitory
- MOA: DEC purine metabolism=DEC uric acid
- ADV prolong 1/2 life of immunosuppressants (Azathioprine & 6-Mercaptopurine)=bone marrow depression
- ADV acute gout flare
3
Q
Probenecid
A
- Uriosuric drug
- MOA: blocks URAT1 transport and INC uric acid excretion in urine
- ADV acute gout flare
4
Q
Pegloticase
A
- Uricase drug
- MOA: enzyme turns uric acid into soluble form Allantoin
- injectable PEGylated uric acid specific enzyme for chronic gout
- ADV acute gout flare
5
Q
Rasburicase
A
- Uricase drug
- MOA: enzyme turns uric acid into soluble Allantoin
- used for patients at high risk for tumor lysis syndrome (TLS)
- ADV acute gout flare
