My son and his wife are coming to Athens.
Ο γιος μου και η γυναίκα του έρχονται στην Αθήνα.
They’re coming with their two children.
Έρχονται με τα δύο παιδιά τους.
παιδί is neuter
Your son has two children?
Ο γιος σας έχει δύο παιδιά;
How old is he now?
Πόσων χρονών είναι τώρα?
You can write either Πόσο or Πόσων - Pimsleur chose to use Πόσων - they usually go for the more formal.
Πόσο is more colloquial.
Πόσων is more formal.
He is twenty-eight (years old).
Είναι είκοσι οχτώ (χρονών).
…and the children, how old are they?
…και τα παιδιά πόσο χρονών είναι;
The girl is five and the boy is two (years old).
Το κορίτσι είναι πέντε και το αγόρι είναι πέντε (χρονών).
( both girl and boy are neuter words in Greek. )
How old?
Πόσο χρονών?
They’re five and two.
Είναι πέντε και δύο.
They’re going to stay with us because my son and his wife are going on holiday without them.
(‘They’, meaning the children, neuter word…)
Θα μείνουν μαζί μας γιατί ο γιος μου και η γυναίκα του πάνε για διακοπές χωρίς αυτά.
The weather is bad today.
Κάνει άσχημο καιρό σήμερα.
Do you still work for KRS?
Δουλεύετε ακόμη για την KRS;
I used to work there.
Δούλευα εκεί πριν.
( Δούλευα is past continuous tense )
Now I work for IBA.
Τώρα δουλεύω για την IBA.
My job is very interesting.
Η δουλειά μου είναι πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα.
NOTE:
Should ‘πολύ’ be written ‘πολλή’ here?
You have two daughters, don’t you?
Έχετε δύο κόρες, έτσι δεν είναι;
How old are they?
Πόσο χρονών είναι?
The older (daughter) one is twenty-seven and the younger one is twenty-five.
Η μεγάλη είναι είκοσι επτά και η μικρή είναι είκοσι πέντε.
Where do they live?
Πού μένουν;
The older (daughter) lives in Chania, she often comes to visit us.
Η μεγάλη μένει στα Χανιά, έρχεται συχνά να μας επισκεφτεί.
My daughter and her husband often come with their children.
Η κόρη μου και ο άντρας της έρχονται συχνά με τα παιδιά τους.
From time to time they come without them.
(‘them’ being the kids)
Πότε πότε έρχονται χωρίς αυτά.
Next week they’re going on vacation without their children.
Την επόμενη εβδομάδα πάνε για διακοπές χωρίς τα παιδιά τους.
They’re going to Italy.
Πάνε στην Ιταλία.
Without their children?
Χωρίς τα παιδιά τους;
They’re going without them.
(‘them’ being the children)
Πάνε χωρίς αυτά.
And your younger daughter?
Και η μικρή κόρη σας;

She lives in New York and she has a very interesting job.
Μένει στη Νέα Υόρκη και έχει πολύ* ενδιαφέρουσα δουλειά.
*Not sure that ‘πολύ’ is spelled correctly here.
I suspect that, as ‘δουλειά’ is a feminine word, ‘πολύ’ really should be written ‘πολλή’…
We went to New York in January.
Πήγαμε στη Νέα Υόρκη τον Ιανουάριο.
In January the weather is often bad.
Τον Ιανουάριο κάνει συχνά άσχημο καιρό.
I know it.
Το ξέρω.
…but there is a lot to do there.
…αλλά έχει πολλά να κάνεις εκεί.
I don’t like to travel.
Δεν μου αρέσει να ταξιδεύω.
It’s hot.
(the weather)
Κάνει ζέστη.
He doesn’t like to travel when the weather is cold.
Δεν του αρέσει να ταξιδεύει όταν κάνει κρύο.
I want to make a phone call.
Θέλω να κάνω ένα τηλέφωνο.
( τηλέφωνο is a neuter word )

Excuse me, I need to make a phone call.
Συγγνώμη, πρέπει να κάνω ένα τηλέφωνο.
I don’t have the phone number.
Δεν έχω τον αριθμό τηλεφώνου.
I think I know it.
(referring to a number-
‘number’ is a masculine word in Greek)
Νομίζω τον ξέρω.
It was the wrong number.
Ήταν λάθος αριθμός.
That’s right, no article here, because a number is up in the air.
I’m going to try again.
Θα προσπαθήσω ξανά.
I love hot coffee when the weather is bad.
Μου αρέσει ο ζεστός καφές όταν κάνει άσχημο καιρό.
I need to make a phone call.
Πρέπει να κάνω ένα τηλέφωνο.
I will try again tonight.
Θα προσπαθήσω ξανά απόψε.
I have a lot of work but it’s really interesting.
Έχω πολλή δουλειά αλλά είναι πραγματικά ενδιαφέρουσα.
Are you going to the office?
Πάτε στο γραφείο;
Today I’m going to work at home.
Σήμερα θα δουλέψω σπίτι.
I often work at home when the weather is bad.
Δουλεύω συχνά σπίτι όταν κάνει άσχημο καιρό.
You work for KRS, don’t you?

I used to work there before.
