What is nodular fasciitis?
This is a benign proliferation of fibroblastic and myofibroblastic cells
Who is nodular fasciitis most common in?
Young adults
Those with trauma (25%)
Where is the most common region fro nodular fasciitis?
Upper extremities
Describe the histology of nodular fasciitis
They will show many cells, with lots of mitosis
Cells will be plump cells: Stellate and spindle
There will be haemorrhage and maturation towards the periphery of the lesion
They are often well circumscribed
How will nodular fasciitis present?
Rapidly growing lesions
In the upper extremities
<5cm diameter
Superficial or deep
How is nodular fasciitis managed?
Management is purely reassurance, as this is a self-limiting condition
