A
This is an out-pouching of the synovial fluid

What causes mucous cysts?
A
Distal interphalangeal joint osteoarthritis

How do mucous cysts present?
A
This has a typical appearance of bubble-like lumps on the DIPJ which may be painful and produce discharge
It also may cause nail deformities and nail ridging

How are mucous cysts managed?
A
These may be left alone is asymptomatic, or may require excision
