This is a life-threatening necrotising soft tissue infection, commonly caused by the rapid proliferation and spread of Clostridioides perfringens from a contaminated wound

- Disproportionate muscle pain
- Massive oedema
- Skin discolouration progressing from bronze to red-purple to black
- Overlying bullae
