What is myonecrosis?

A

This is a life-threatening necrotising soft tissue infection, commonly caused by the rapid proliferation and spread of Clostridioides perfringens from a contaminated wound

A
  • Disproportionate muscle pain
  • Massive oedema
  • Skin discolouration progressing from bronze to red-purple to black
  • Overlying bullae
