(v) 預測
(MW) to say that (something) will happen in the future: to predict (something,such as weather) after looking at the informationthat is available
[源] fore- (before) + -cast (throw) ,在發生之前把事實 “先丟” 出來。
[衍] forecast [ˈforˌkæst] (n) a statement about what youthink is goingto happen in the future“預測”。
[例] Experts forecast that the economywill slow in the coming months.
[解] forecast 指的是 “根據事實數據分析” 所進行的預測,常用於天氣、運動比賽、經濟數據的預測。

(v) 預見
(MW) to see orbecome aware of (something that hasnotyet happened)
[源] fore- (before) + see,預見是 “先看到”。
[衍] foreseeable [forˈsiəbəl] (a) lying within therange for which forecastsare possible <in theforeseeable future > “可預見的”。常用於 ina/the foreseeable future“可預見的將來”。
[例] He foresees aday when all war will cease (停止) .

anticipate [ænˈtɪsəˌpet]
(v) 預期
(MW) to expect or look ahead to(something) with pleasure:to look forward to (something)
[源] anti- (= ante-, before) + cip- (=cep-, take) ,本意是“先拿”。
[例] The author anticipated objections to his theory.
