What can a venous insufficiency ulcer form as a result of?
A
- Venous hypertension
- Secondary to valve failure or peripheral impedance
- Over time, tissue pressure decreases skin resilience and endothelial damage that allows enzyme and free radical leakage into the tissue

Clinical presentation for venous insufficiency ulcer
A
- Medial surface of the lower leg b/t mid-calf and malleolus
- Shallow in depth than arterial and neuropathic ulcers
- Irregular wound borders
- Moist wound bed w/ red granulation tissue
- Moderate to heavy exudate

A
- Close abnormal veins
- Diuretics, antibiotics, antimicrobial agents
- Surgical intervention
